LAWRENCEVILLE — Buford never trailed and held off a brief run by Stephenson early in the third quarter to pull away for a 68-50 win Saturday at Archer.
Tory Ozment scored 11 of her game-high 15 points in the second half, while Marissa Bruce finished with 12 points, seven rebounds, three assists and three steals as the Wolves improved to 10-3 on the season.
Ozment and Zikaya Wright led a 7-2 run late in the third quarter after Stephenson had pulled as close as seven points to push the lead back into double digits for good.
Wright chipped in with 12 points and six boards for Buford, while Jessica Nelson added six points, seven rebounds and five blocked shots.
“We’ve just played six games in about a two-week period, so our legs are down a little bit,” Buford coach Gene Durden said. “But any time you can get (an 18-) point win this time of year, that’s a good thing.”

Hebron Christian 28
LOGANVILLE — Yewande Bello took advantage of Hebron Christian’s lack of height Saturday, powering Peachtree Ridge to a 61-28 victory in the GDP Challenge at Grayson.
Bello finished with a game-high 26 and helped the Lions (4-7) pull away after a close first quarter. Jalea Gray had 13 points for the victories and Quinnay Summers scored 10.
Yarimel Ramirez led Hebron (1-12) with 12 points, while Athena Hawkins had eight points and Alyssa Elliot scored six.
Mountain View 54,
South Gwinnett 40
LAWRENCEVILLE — Katherine Fourie scored 16 points as Mountain View ran past South Gwinnett 54-40 in the GDP Challenge on Saturday at Archer High School.
Jaron Stallworth also reached double figures with 11 points, while Alea Spears and Tamara Jordan each chipped in eight points as the Bears improved to 6-8 on the season.
GAC 53, Shiloh 38
LOGANVILLE — Deadlocked after a quarter, Greater Atlanta Christian’s girls took control in the second quarter on the way to a 53-38 win over Shiloh in the GDP Challenge at Grayson.
GAC (8-5) outscored Shiloh 18-6 in the second quarter for a 31-19 halftime edge. The lead grew in the third quarter before a late run by Shiloh cut the gap to 39-29 entering the fourth quarter.
The Spartans began the fourth with a quick 8-0 run and finished off Shiloh (6-6), which had won four of its past five games.
Robyn Benton led GAC with 19 points, Caria Reynolds scored 12 and Tamiah Lewis added eight points. Shiloh got 12 points from Emani Bell and eight from Kamryn Jackson.
LAWRENCEVILLE — Sophomore Bailey Bassette scored 25 points and had seven rebounds as Lanier pulled away in the second half to defeat Meadowcreek 70-38 in the final girls game at Central Gwinnett in the Gwinnett Daily Post Challenge.
Kalen Surles had 18 points and four assists for the Longhorns, while fellow freshman Mekala Fuller contributed 10 points and five steals.
Lanier (5-9) led just 21-16 at haltime, but outscored Meadowcreek 22-7 in the third quarter and 27-9 in the fourth.
Meadowcreek (4-10) got nine points from Kiana Thaddies.
